Peace Garden

Landscape Gardener

Vancouver, British ColumbiaPart-time
CA$22 - CA$30 hourly
About the Job
We're a small environmentally-focused landscape gardening company based in East Vancouver looking for someone who can help us 2-4 days a week from 7:30-4 Monday to Thursday. During the busy season (April to June) more days are available to those with sufficient experience.

We use battery-powered maintenance equipment to promote a cleaner, more peaceful landscaping experience for staff and customers.

The most important things are to be communicative, self-directive, use good judgment, and have strong interpersonal skills because you will be working with other staff and interacting with clients on a regular basis.

If you're closer to entry level, the wage would start at or closer to $22 an hour and you'll be given raises as you grow in knowledge and skills. If you're very experienced with gardening and leading a crew, your wage will be closer to $30 an hour.

Cost-shared benefits are available for those working 3+ days.

We're looking for someone with:
  • Good judgment, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A willingness to regularly go up a 10-foot ladder to trim hedges.
  • Good physical stamina and an ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift.
  • An ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
  • An ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Plant knowledge or a strong commitment to learning, and a keen interest in landscape gardening is important.
  • Decent strength and physical fitness is also important given the nature of the work.
  • A driver's license is a strong asset.
  • A positive attitude is a must.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • We do a lot of different things so there's quite a bit of variety to our days.
  • Sometimes we're weeding or mulching, other times we're doing garden installations or renovations.
  • Pruning, raking, debris removal, etc.
We support and encourage workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion through our hiring practices and workplace culture. People of colour, Indigenous people, queer, trans, and non-binary folks, are all encouraged to apply.

Please email your cover letter, resume (CV) and references to Che@PeaceGardenDesigns.com. Only those submitting a resume and cover letter will be considered.
